Analog Repeaters

General Information

  • The callsign for the analog repeaters is WW4VA.
  • Time-out timers are set for 2.5 minutes on all 3 repeaters.
  • Most of the announcements and ID's on the repeaters are "polite", that is they will cease if you key up and talk over them.  The exceptions are weather, emergency, and critical announcements, and some commands issued by a control operator.
  • When a net or special event is in progress, it is usually only being conducted on one of the repeaters; the other repeaters are usually free - the exception is the weekly SARA net which is carried on the 145.270 and 444.450 MHz analog repeaters.
  • The system has a CAT WX-1000 weather receiver connnected to all three repeaters.  It activates when the National Weather Service issues severe weather announcements for the following areas: the counties of Stafford, Prince William, Fauquier, Spotsylvania, and King George, and the City of Fredericksburg.
  • Our autopatch is off-line until we can run a new cable to the repeater shack, since a groundhog ate the original cable (again).

145.270 MHz (-) CTCSS 79.7 Hz

This is our Primary repeater. It has excellent coverage along the I-95 corridor, reaching out to the Pentagon in the North, Dahlgren to the East, Culpeper to the West, and the 100 mile marker to the South; having an operating radius of approximately 40 miles.  The repeaters are used extensively during rush hour. There is a weather receiver connected to give us any severe storm wanrings.  The repeater is used for the following nets:

  • SARA Thursday Night Net (linked to 444.450 repeater)
  • ARES/RACES Training Net on Tuesdays.
  • SKYWARN Net (as needed)
  • ARES/RACES Emergency Net (as needed)

147.375 MHz (+) CTCSS 79.7 Hz

This analog repeater is currently off the air. It is being relocated to a county tower in the center of Stafford.  It will have a height of 350' AGL and be linked to the 145.270 & 444.450 repeaters.  It should be operational again this summer.

444.450 MHz (+) CTCSS 79.7 Hz

This repeater uses the same antenna as the 145.270 MHz repeater and has the same coverage area. This repeater has the WW4VA-R Echolink Node (52256) connected to it.  It is used for the following nets and special features:

  • SARA Thursday Night Net (linked to 145.270 repeater)
  • SKYWARN Net (as needed)
  • ARES/RACES Emergency Net (as needed)
  • ECHOLINK (temporarily off-line; phone line cut)
  • Autopatch (temporarily off-line; phone line cut)
